    What to do on Saint-Barnabé Island?

    It may only be 6 kilometres long and 300 metres wide, but there’s plenty to do on Saint-Barnabé Island!The island is one of the many historic sites in the Bic region that you can’t miss during your stay here.



    Choose from 3 different hiking trails to explore the area.

    • The first trail is 1.5 hours and 3 kilometres long, taking you through the North of the Island and the South shore
    • The second, 4.5-kilometre path takes 2.5 hours and lets you explore even more of the island
    • The last route is a 12 kilometre loop-trail that goes through the whole island. Set aside about 4.5 hours for this one, so you don’t miss a thing!

    Spot the Island’s Majestic Great Blue Heron

    Once you land on the Island, you’ll find yourself among the many animals of the Bic Region. Keep your eyes peeled for seals, birds, mammals (oh my!) In particular, look for the Great Blue Heron, the Island’s mascot.

    Please be aware, however, that some areas of the heron’s habitat are prohibited to visitors.

    Explore the Island’s Many Unique Sites

    Saint-Barnabé Island offers many hidden gems, including Anse à Marsouin bay, Lac à Canards, beaver habitats, ponds, and even the remains of a shipwreck!

    Rates & Reservations

    See below for the ferry rates to get to the island (rates vary by year and season):

    • Between $20 and $30 for adults (rates vary by year and season)
    • About $15 for children ages 6 to 17
    • The family rate is between $50 and $60 (2 adults and 1 or more children)
    • Free for children ages 3 to 5

    Please call 418-723-2280 to reserve your ferry ride. You can determine your departure time when reserving.

    Season and Operating Hours

    The season begins around mid-June and ends at the beginning of September. Departures leave from the Rimouski marina, aboard Le Rimouskoi. Departures are every half hour from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. Return trips are every half hour until 6:15 pm.
