HISTORY OF LE BIC REGION<\/span><\/h3>\n

Jacques Cartier discovered Le Bic harbour<\/span> in 1535 during his second voyage to Canada. Later, Samuel Champlain returned and wrote a detailed description in 1603. It is to him that we owe the name \u201cBic\u201d. Initially, he named the place \u201cPic\u201d, in reference to Pic Champlain (which bears his name today), visible from the St. Lawrence. Over time, <\/span>the term \u201cPic\u201d became \u201cBic\u201d<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The name \u201cBic\u201d is found as early as 1675, in documents pertaining to the municipality. The Bic region was populated as soon as it was discovered and French colonies were established. Later, the English took over the region. Nevertheless, it remains <\/span>deeply marked by its francophone past<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
